Chain ok with two 'master links/SRAM connectors'?

Putting on a larger cassette for a one day event. SRAM Chain fine aside for the largest chainring/largest cog combo (50-28)

New chain required or can I add a link with a second SRAM connector?

I know I should avoid the this gear but may want it available.....and I am also being 'thrifty'.

i have 2 sram conn. links on a bike-so far no problems

Do it all the time with KMC chains....if I need two more links.

How old is present chain? If close, replace, use for one day event, shorten when done....I rec. least expensive compatible chains(and cogsets)...consumables, after all.
