HI so I have purchased some 40mm deep carbon wheels.
Plan to go with Vittoria tubular tires, still deciding on which model.
So I know the Vittoria has a Removable Valve, but with Vittoria does the full length of the stem come off or does just the end comes off?
What size valve extension do I need? Can I go with a 40mm valve extension or do I need to go with a 60mm?
Thanks

i'd go with 60, but that's just me. i don't like extenders if i don't have to.

The actual valve will unscrew off the stem. Use the Campy valve extenders. They will be plenty long.

It depends which Vittoria tires you get. The Evo series had removable red stems with the valve attached. They are out of production but there is NOS around. If you get the newer Corsa CX or Elite they have removable valves on a 40mm stem. A 20mm Continental should be fine. I have 58mm tubulars and a 40mm is perfect.

So happy Vittoria stopped the red, full length, valve 'experiment'...now back to normal valves....

World Class Cycles has valve extensions in virtually any length, and multiple color options. They also have a guide for what length to buy.

...u should aim to have a total valve length of 60mm with ur 40mm wheels. Which extender u add depends on which valve u currently have. Lou

At least 60... I have always run 80's on my 45mm deep dish wheels. Just makes it that much easier to use a pump.

Thanks for all the responses.
Purchased Elite Vittoria which has 42 mm stem and purchased 30 mm extension.

If it is a matter of tubular or tubeless , use extenders. If it is tubes, use longer valves, way easier IMO.
