Just saw this pop up in CC a few days ago. Sounds a lot easier to install and you don't have to worry about it getting knocked out of place like the GSC-10 when you throw the bike in the car and stack it on top of another bike.

Cool, I hate the frame mounted GSC-10.

I like the updated cadence sensor, but the speed sensor will be a PITA if you use multiple wheel sets - and even more so with higher spoke count wheels with limited access to that portion of the hub.

Son of a b*tch, I literally bought two GSC-10s on Monday. Back they go.

I'm getting just the cadence sensor since I'm planning to run a Powertap.

nice...would certainly appeal to anyone who's been frustrated with a spoke-magnet that won't stay put. Thanks!

Curious how they'd work with a full squish mtn bike. May help for distances in the woods with lots of ups and downs.

Trades one headache for another. My SRM reports cadence so all I need is a speed sensor. I use a Bontrager sensor and glued on neodymium magnets.

Interesting...

I like the simplicity of a single stay mounted piece of electronics. Magnet on spoke and neodynium magnet in the pedal hole of the crank... seemed like a pretty elegant solution.

Maybe they felt the chain stay mounting was too cumbersome... or maybe there were issues around too many weird chain stay shapes with CF bikes? I'd have preferred a better implementation of the chain stay thing over this.

Christian, you should be able to put the sensor on the front wheel right? There's no electronics that would cause interference.

Mounting the sensor on the chainstay allows for trainer use. FWIW.

I like it. Will look awful on my shiny WI rear hub.

These new sensors should work just fine on a trainer (both cadence and speed).

If i never had to install a spoke magnet again, I'd be thrilled.

Understood. I don't want to buy one for each wheel. I prefer the chainstay sensor and glued on magnet on each wheel.

Silly 705, no workie!

Really, this looks like another expensive answer to nobody's question. I just wish they'd redesign the present combined sensor. A smaller, neater package would be cool.

I dislike trying to clean around the GSC-10, and have had the zipties randomly break, leaving the sensor loose and flopping into the spokes. An O ring mount like the Sigma sensors would have been superior, it seems. .

I agree with this. I actually did not mind the current solution and it was nice to only have 1 device and 2 magnets, now you need 2 devices, 2 batteries and going to cover my nice looking hub haha.

I've got say I really like this.
Even though the current garmin speed/cadence sensor I have works with no problems, the snob on me has to chime in.

I ride a Pinarello, and like most Piņo riders I'm a bit of a snob.
I'm very envious of Trek's cadence free lines. As well, I can't stand how the sensor sits on my chain stay. Just looks out of place.
If I could sell my cadence and speed sensor for 40 bucks and pick those up for 70 would I? Yes. It's worth 30 bucks to get my lines back and stop staring at Trek owners....LOL.

It looks like they are is easily swappable between bikes due to the rubber band mounts. In that case, it works for me. I could swap between "secondary" bikes like track and cross. My main road bike does cadence via the powermeter and I've left the GSC-10 on for speed/distance indoors.
This looks like an improvement to me.

I agree about not wanting that blob over my nice hubs, though. The GSC-10 is staying on for speed.

Bontrager speed-only sensor and glued-on neodymium magnet. Clean. Yeah I know my chain is dirty. I took the picture after washing the bike. It's all clean now.

I guess it must solve something since I never wanted the existing style but I ordered one of these new cadence sensors today.
