This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECs8ZrmH8D8) is frightening and hilarious at the same time.

This guy below jacked a bike at gunpoint in South Africa. He didn't figure out the GoPro.

Yikes.
That is so scary knowing something like that can happen.
I thought for a second the cyclist slapped the robbers hand or something, which could've ended bad. He definitely kept his cool...I'm happy to see he lives to ride another day.
I would've walked away with 10 pounds dropped into my shorts. :butt:

Lucky guy, this could have had a different ending in such a desolate area.

My friend was recently in South Africa with people from all over the world and the people who were by far the most nervous about safety were the people actually born and raised there, which makes me think it must truly be a dangerous place if you are not careful.

That video is kind if crazy. Hopefully they get the guys.

Thieves were captured already. Cell phone and bike were recovered. Those comments on youtube are outrageous.

Indeed. This whackjob "semi-professional sportsperson" actually defends the gunman and his band of thugs, as if she knows 'em and why they did what they did. I'd like to see her say the same thing if she got held up by gunpoint and robbed of her personal belongings.

This is in South Africa, where some people only have about $100 to last them all month, and expenses are the same as most other places in the world. It's easy to judge when you don't have an empty belly."

Those comments on youtube are outrageous.

This used to happen in Central Park in Manhattan back in the early eighties, although guns were rare. They would just nail some poor dude climbing that hill up in the northern part of the park by pushing him/her off the bike. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, considering that many are riding ten thousand dollar bikes in the park these days.

The video is from the area where I grew up. It's impossible to explain to others the constant stress we lived under with regards to safety. I'm glad I left.

in the early-mid 90's, when i first moved there, it was still a little dicey on the north end if doing laps later at night (after 9-10 pm). you just had to be careful, or ride with others. and don't ride slow up harlem hill! getting pelted with rocks was not fun.

there used to be a late night crew that was a blast to ride with. dunno if they do that anymore. real old school characters, incl. a few trackies at a 25-30 mph kind of pace lap after lap after lap. it was awesome.
