View Full Version : The Ego has landed (super secret build thread)

New build thread here. I'm bad at these I think. I tend to have everything come in at once and together it goes.

This brand doesn't get much love on the forum but I just had to try it out. Julie (Molly47) is super awesome and made it attainable for me so I can put it under my skinny butt for some racing.

Some may remember a thread in which I showed off my questionable taste:

http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=121740

So keep that in mind.

Without further ado, I give you the Dogma Ego!

Yep, one of a hundred made.

My plans are fulcrum racing zeroes, and campy record 10 carbon.

Mirrored finish, delicate mirroered finish. I guess the name is because you can see yourself in it.

Black campy galore. However I bought red spoked racing zeroes before I chose the frame. So silver/red/black theme.

Sweet.

I think you may have the opportunity for two appearances with one build.

Option A (Tdf)
The fulcrum zeros, black tires, and the serfas cages

Option B (spring classic)
Silver hubs/spokes to black or ceramic rims, tan tires, and the king cages

Is the frame the same finish as the fork/stays or is it gold and they are silver?

Okay here are some pics of the finished product. Yes the seat angle changes between the two. Showing off the sometimes gold finish. I'm convinced its all about what it's reflecting.

I'm so happy with the component choices. This is my second ever campy bike, as I typically use shimano.

As for the ride quality? Just incredible. Even with 23s (25s will be tight) it's gentle over all but the most heinous of potholes. Somehow there is simultaneously no power robbing flex (something I'm really noticing my old frame had), but comfortable as all getout. It's super stable at speed, but I can whip it around corners and dodge road imperfections like a much twitchier bike. All of my rides with it so far have been hammerfests.

I can't wait to race it. Wells ave was cancelled this week but maybe next.

Of course this is the most ridiculous bike ever, but I'm really looking forward to not trolling the classifieds as much. There really isn't anywhere to go from here :-) I'm thinking this could be the one!

My only qualm is that the upper bearing cover is proprietary. I want to get lower but can't. Might have to machine the thing down...

An update on the creak. The faulty keo pedal thread had me checking mine. Pedal body cracked. Lucky I'm not in the hospital. Imagine if it fell off while I was wailing away on some hills. Ordered a Ti set to replace the chromo! I'm also still fighting with my saddle position, angle, height from the bars. I may end up with the aforementioned -17* stem. I'm not a huge fan of my short legs!

I see you found the creak to be the pedal but...threaded BB right? DO NOT glue(loctite) those cups in...you may never get them out. Grease, Teflon tape, torque, grease inside cups, around bearings, clip in place, wavy washer...is the key to no noise.

So I'm getting a 3t red stripe stem for this, -17* to help the fit. Bars are way too close with the seat at the right height from the pedals.

Everybody's got a story to tell. Buyer left fully aware of paint issues, and I told him to let me know if it turned out to be confirmed fake by the pin dealer. It's real.

Yeah, I'm definitely not trying to say that you didn't disclose the paint issue!

He seemed sketchy, and the fact that he wouldn't articulate his complaints was pretty bizarre, I thought at the time. He was "only" asking $2500 on Craigslist, IIRC.
