Well not ever, but for steel road bikes? Where go you buy these things?

Was it gios that used cobalt in their blue, and that's why it is so hard to get anything close to that color nowadays? No matter, it's a great color.

Sweet. I've always been drawn to them.

Nice build too.

Enjoyed watching, cool video! Around the campy headset part I started forming mental images of Oldpotatoe at work.

I visited a vintage bike collector last weekend that has two of those in his stable. Beautiful bikes.

I owned one, full panto. Is this a restored frame with modern components or is Gios still in business?

I think the blue without the Gios is kinda the sizzle without the steak. That said, FWIW, House of Kolor Oriental Blue is damn close if anyone is looking to identify it for a painter, considering a respray or color choice for a custom. My fat tubed Aluminum cross bike shows the color nicely with more surface, even if less panache.
It also goes well with every color in Hawaii.

The video was a little misleading, I wanted to see some frames being brazed together. Not components being put on.

I'd like to see that frame available in a box, like the old days. Panto optional.

That was inspiring - vintage style (chromed fork with a beautiful crown) with modern componentry (threadless stem, 11 speed, carbon hub).

Yup that blue has but one rightful use. As long as it spells g-i-o-s. :)

^^That is good to know. I have a (new-to-me) Kirk that is painted in House of Kolor Too Blue. It is also very similar the blue that Gios uses.

Funny and ironic that the builder (Dave) once politely told me on a ride (while I was riding the blue bike) that it was not his favorite variation of blue. Which is fine, as we all have our opinions. But when I explained why I loved it (because of the similarity to Gios') he totally understood. It was one of those "see the light" conversations that started as an "agree to disagree" conversation. It's all good.

Thanks for sharing.

I ordered my Della Santa asking for Gios blue, given my unhealthy love for De Vlaeminck.

Roland steered me towards a similar but different enough blue he does on his own called DS blue. I wasn't disappointed with the results.

Gios blue and Molteni orange. Doesn't get better.
