Saturday was a solid 3 hour group ride on the tandem with the always amazing Mrs TR. Good friends, good times. Easing back in after 6 months of OTB for various reasons.
Today was a hard 4 hrs., near bonk, the kind of ride where the first hour back all you want to do is sit in a stupor, too fried for anything else, then it's time to clean out the fridge.
Grilling chicken and sharing some fine craft brews with my lovely wife. Perfect way to end the weekend.

About 50 miles on Saturday. 50/50 pavement and Forest Service dirt roads. A bit of snow near the top of the climb on north facing slopes. Hayden Lake in the distance in one of the images and tired bikes at the top of the dirt road climb in another.

Didn't get to ride much last week in the strange May heat in California, but it cooled off by Saturday. Went 85 miles over page mill, down 84 and looped back through Pescadero and west alpine. If you know the ride, you know it's gorgeous, and the weather on Saturday merely helped to confirm that. Greedily I've no pictures to show for it as I favored the views myself. Lots of other people out cycling though. Also, pastries from Arcangeli's in Pescadero are a delicious sustenance for riding.

Today, I took a recovery ride through the Los Altos hills and "the loop." Great weekend for riding on the SF peninsula.

Some light MTBing in the east bay topped my weekend off.

Took the Salsa La Cruz out. I was looking for a suggested MTB trail but did not find it. So went for a ride along the Miura coastline. Pretty day but lots of traffic. Had a few close encounters with truckers.

I somehow I found the time for 140 miles this weekend, 50 Friday, 50 Saturday, and 40 Sunday. Second two with the GF on her new to her Cervelo. Proper fit and more than a few lbs of weight off the bike have made a huge huge difference in her riding. I'm super impressed by her this season.

Looking at my new Strava profile, I did 5/7 days last week!

Congrats Chris!!!

My wife is a little under the weather, so I've been hanging around the house with the kiddos and shuttling them to t-ball and birthday parties and chess tournaments. Managed 1:13 on the trainer Friday, 1:40 on the trainer Saturday, and 2:23 outside yesterday am and 1:00 on the trainer last night.

Yeah, that's a little sad, but the ride outside was absolutely perfect. 59d, sun, nice breeze, and a pistachio Hampsten.

And on Sunday night, I took my bikes to the bike wash:

Storming of Thunder Ridge yesterday. 6800+ feet of climb in 75 miles. 10 degrees colder on top of the mountain than down in the valley, but gorgeous all day. Unfortunately, my new cheap point-and shoot camera turned out to be just cheap and the pics are crappy.
Did get one shot of Saturday's sunset on the iphone (the hills in the distance are the Blue Ridge, target of the next day's ride):

... and another of me after finishing. Yeah, vintage:

Despite the cool 53* temp and light rain (or maybe because of it, I love that stuff) I was well on the way to setting a PR on one of my favorite loops, while testing some really wide prototype bars with a shorty stem. This isn't the best bike for this job, but my Morewood Zula punches way above it's weight class and is a lot of fun set up as a short-travel trail bike.

No sooner did I have the thought "Wow, these 840mm wide bars really help stick the turns..." than I started playing ricochet rabbit between the trees on a particularly tight and twisty section of one my favorite trails. In the span of less than two bike lengths, I clipped one tree on the left, then another on the right, then high-sided to a dead stop. I guess a momentary lack of concentration has it's price.

Planned on 30ish miles west of Boston on a favorite loop _AND_ managed to convince my gang at the coffee stop to throw a few extra miles on leading to an extra coffee/pastry stop at the Madrid bakery (for those of you Boston-ites a not-to-be-missed experience...) 50 miles total AND 2 croissants (maybe we should get a dancing croissant to replace the banana? more bicycle appropriate?) Awesome ;-)

I lead rides for a tri group (doing my part to make triathletes better cyclists :bike:) and led a ride around Lake Washington. My girlfriend is coming back from injury and doesn't have enough endurance for 50+ miles so I took her out on the tandem. We had a blast...I got an extra workout in while she got to take it easy. Even though she's not at full steam, we still got up to 31 mph on a flat section.

I'm in the rugby striped jersey.
