I appoligize if I missed the epic bell thread. In my search I only went back through last November but I'm looking for bell for my road bike that blends in rather than sticking out like my current one does. Doesn't need to be the loudest bell on earth since it is only used to signal the random weaving Koreans on the bike path but I would like it to be silent when not in use unlike a couple of my bells that seem to rattle away.

You can get one of these (http://sogrenibikes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=2)...only 40 euros!

I think you may be thinking of these (http://spurcycle.com/bell.html)? They're loud, pretty good looking and discreet.

Forget the bells - get a horn! Most make a very nice HONK!!!

That spurcycles bell is nice looking. Rivendell carries a few different bell models. The headset spacer bell is a cool idea.

Thanks, so far the spurcycles seems to be the winner. Too bad it's not currently in stock and not being in stock for the next two months doesn't help me in the short term.

IMHO the spur cycle bell has two drawbacks that are just naturally part of the design
1) metal bar clamp that wont play nice with my carbon bar finish
2) one ding per thumb flick. this means you want more dings you need to be flicking your thumb faster. which, from my incredibell experience is a royal PITA https://www.mirrycle.com/original_bell.php

this version https://www.mirrycle.com/brass_duet.php works much better to address point #2

I love the spur cycle idea, packaging, aesthetic and the marketing of the unique sound. but for my needs the incredibell duet works great

I have the spur cycle. I like it. Was it a kick starter campaign?

Really surprised nobody has mentioned the alumimum Crane models (Sakura, Karen, etc). I run one on my commuter's headset stack using a spacer. It looks cool, is light, and out of the way.

I agree. I only went with the aluminum for weight reasons. On my townie I have the big brass one and it's awesome.

Here's another option that I couldn't remember for a bit.

I have a VO striker brass bell mounted on the HS spacer and can easily rapid-fire it. The brass version is pretty loud. The aluminum one I have is pathetic in comparison.

Also, your shifters/brake levers also have metal clamps. Its easy to put some black electrical tape down and theres no need to cinch it down hard at all.

Is that handlebar okay? Looks like someone cut through it? That seems unlikely so just a pic illusion?

Asudef

No, it snapped as I put my weight on it. Thats why I took the pic to document it.

Luckily I was standing and not at speed.

Scary. Glad you were not up to speed! Old alu bars is not something i like to ride for that very reason.

Received lots of pm's, responded to all.

I'm looking to recoup $40 for kickstarter plus a few bucks shipping.
