What surprises me is why they want to 'protect the paint' there on this sponsor supplied bicycle. I've seen other 'pro's bikes', and to say they try to keep them looking pristine, well, most I've seen don't really do that.

Don't use O-rings, use cable donuts stretched over the cable housing instead.

O-rings are made of a harder compound (i.e. durometer) than cable donuts and will mar the paint surface in the normal course of the cable housing moving around. Cable donuts are nice little soft mushy blobs.

I use the Jagwire ones personally. Work fine so far.

well.. if you dont put anything over the paint itself like helicopter tape, the o-rings in the cables will bust the paint anyways.

An offset braze-on would circumvent this problem atmo.

It's a bike. If you want it to stay in perfect condition, don't ride it. Otherwise, feet go on pedals, ass goes on saddle, hands go on bars and tires go on roads - things get scratched...
