I bought these Mavic Cosmic aluminum tubulars for my early '90s Daccordi, which was just built up with 10-speed Chorus/Centaur.

So, does anyone know if these Mavic Campy-compatible wheels can be made to work with an old Mirage or Veloce freehub? Or is that only Campagnolo wheels?

I'm glad to have them either way, will eventually use them for something with 8-speed if I can't get them to work now, but I'd love to use them on this specific bike.

Also, if the answer is yes, they will work, does anyone have one of those freehubs that they'd like to part ways with?

Thanks!

Ike

I'm 98.6% sure that vintage of Cosmic used the same freehub design as the Mavic 571 hub. Pull it all apart and it should look like this:

No Campy 9/10/11 freehub body was ever produced as far as I know.

The Campy 8 FHB you have is very rare and might be valuable to someone wanting to run a 571 hub with a Campy 8 group. If you find a Shimano HG splined FHB you can run up to 10 speed Shimano/SRAM cassettes.

I got a set of similar aged Mavic Cosmos that my mechanic couldn't fit to a Campy Cassette. From what research I did and my mechanic did, there appear to be a few M10 Mavic Campy spaced cassettes made. They'll probably be really hard to track down though; I had no success. I ended up with an American Classic Campy-spaced cassette, which was pricey...

I think I also saw that some people here used a JTek shiftmate.
