View Full Version : Erickson Sweetpost on a Seven?

A friend of mine is looking for a Ti seatpost for his raw Ti Seven Axiom Sl. The Seven-made one is an obvious option, but smokin' expensive (even by Ti seatpost standards). The Sweetpost seems like a popular and attractive option, but it's not clear from pictures whether the finish would match. It sorta looks more like a "Moots" finish than a "Seven" finish, but I really can't tell. I thought someone here might have tried this before she sinks any money on it.

I have a sweet post on my Hampsten. But Steve Hampsten refinished it to match the finish of my frame. I would definitely say the finish, if it is like a moots, is more grey than Seven's finish which I think is similar to what Steve does for his ti Hampstens. I have a Moots RSL stem on my frame and you can tell the difference. Steve has, in the past, offered to refinish my stem to match the frame. Maybe he would do the same for your friend?

Or Ericksen might do a custom finish on a post? Seven is ... Bead blasted?

But never mind the OP, I'm still staring at the Hampsten

If you must have a Ti seatpost then get a Lynskey's or an equivalent with an ENVE clamp, as this clamp will work with most saddles that have oversize carbon rails. Both Eriksen and Moots seatposts only work with a standard round saddle rails.

More or less a perfect match when i matched it to this frame but both frame and post has what i like to call a brushed finish, not sure what seven calls this.
This sweetpost is not close to a moots finish btw. You can c the same seatpost in a moots frame in the 2nd pic (but perhaps a poor pic).
3rd pic should give you a better idea of what it actually looks like as theres no other ti to blend in and confuse :)

For me "raw" is a grey titanium without the shine and luster of most other ti-finishes. Dont think ive seen a seven in what i refer to as raw.

Brushed is probably the right word. I'm always mixing those descriptors up. Looks good!

Those are some nice looking machines. The post definitely seems to match. May have to consider one myself if I ever tire of my Thomson

Stupid question: when measuring seatpost length, do you go to the rail clamp?
