Anyone know if the 53t big ring is the same on a 7703 triple crank as a 7700 double?

I know I'm stupid, but all that jumps out at me is the 39t inner ring is "special". What about the big ring?

Yes...I believe they are different matched sets. Check the letter designation...I think triples were "D" series meant to run with a 53/39/30.

They all work fine together.

I did verify the big ring on a triple is a D series.
I'd love to buy a new 53t "d" ring if anyone has one. Also a 39t middle.

Vecchio's has the middle ring, the integrated one with the small hooked to it. Expensive,

Use any 53t big ring, DA for double for example.
I'm looking at a NOS 7703 ring set next to a NOS 7700 ring set right now. The 7703 is indeed stamped "D" but it appears to be completely indistinguishable otherwise from the 7700 ring. The most I can determine is that the chain catcher pin is a slightly different design between them -- not different dimensions but different shape. The other rings are quite distinctive.
