What Groupos were offered with a compact square taper BB? I have a Mirage and wondered if Chorus or Record were ever options.

Thanks as always!

I have a centaur compact and I think that was as high as it climbed up the tree...

Touched just about the full line. Centaur was alloy, Record was carbon. Different BBs for the carbon ones vs the alloy.

IIRC, all gruppos had a square taper compact; Centaur had both a carbon and alloy version.

Square taper compact seems very elusive at least for me :(

There's a Record and Chorus set on eBay right now...from that overpriced place in Portland, OR.

I run a Campag. machine but use a TA Vortex crank with 34/50 rings because I turn 177.5's. Campy didn't manufacture a compact above 175 in any variety.

Btw, the Vortex is st and is a fabulous crank. Fit a Phil BB and never sweat a bother.

Centaur and above had compact and square taper..2007 they all went to UT type cranks. Record and Chorus were always carbon, Centaur had an aluminum and carbon one in 2006...in 2006 there were Mirage and Veloce aluminum CT as well.

Centaur carbon and aluminum both used 111mm BB, Record and Chorus, 102mm.

...and this pisses me off to no end. I mean, ···? I know it's an economic decision on Campy's part, but...

Chorus carbon compact 34/49 (or 48) ideal for cx was offered too, had a set moving around.

I'm with you there, all my Campy bikes have either SRAM or Ritchey Logic 180 compacts.

And I imagine those Zenon Compact cranks w/b same quality, under that black paint, as the Centaur and Veloce, if you took off the cheap chain rings and chain ring bolts. Got some TA rings and nice chain ring bolts. And the Veloce crank arms are also OK.

They were although I have never seen any Campagnolo distributor ever bring xenon in to the US

Always thought stamped rings were aesthetically lacking. Centaur with stamped rings would essentially be Veloce yeah?

I'd be happy to have those off CL if someone is willing to assist (shipping to WI).

I think cnighbor1 meant those are his cranks listed on CL - shoot him a PM.

Like the Xenon/Mirage/Veloce (and later Centaur) chainrings or not, they're still probably better than 90-some percent of rings ever made. Inner ring on the contraband Xenon is steel, but the outer is essentially a black anodized Veloce.

I kind of want to find a loose steel 42t
