Today while doing a ride in the Sutter Creek area I met someone at a coffee shop who approached me and asked about my C3. In this conversation he said he has a CSI that's been hanging in his garage for years and asked if I would be interested in buying it. He is asking $900.00 for the bike. These are the pictures he sent today. What do you think?

Does it fit you?

Don't think so, not sure what size frame this is, 56 maybe?
Thinking I can fix it up and resale.

I don't think you'll be making much (if any) profit.

That's a gorgeous bike at a good price, wish I had extra money lying around.

Thanks Louis, was thinking it was worth more than his asking price.

Check the forum and see what folks have been asking for their complete CSIs. I'm sure you'll find a few comps.

Really nice bike at a reasonable price to buy to own/enjoy…but…very little chance of any real profit, on a flip.

My 2c.

Very attractive price for a Serotta CSI.

That's a good retail price, but I don't know that you'd get much more than that on a flip - especially if you got into shipping and paypal charges. See if you can get him down any by pointing out that this option for him is zero effort vs CL or ebay, and because it'll likely need new tires, tubes, tune-up, etc... It does look nice and clean though.

Or tell him you know where the cyclists hang out and that you'll post it for him for a 20% brokerage fee.

Well people pay a lot more for a new steel frame from many builders that will not ride any better than this Csi. Not a bad deal if it fits you and you will ride it.

I would love to see that with a brown recovered saddle and some veloflex masters.

I think thats gorgeous. If you want a csi in this size i doubt you could do much better tbh.

FWIW, I sold my CSI nine years ago for $1200 w/96 Record.

Here's one that popped up on the Metro Detroit Craigslist for $1,000 OBO. (http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/bik/4431435453.html) I'm happy to proxy if anyone is interested.

I talked to him, but he seems stuck on $1,000.

If he would come off that a bit, I'd buy it this afternoon.

To my eye, that looks like a custom with a shortish top tube but it could just be photo distortion. If it fit you, then a grand is probably a little on the + side. I think $800 is tops and that would be a good price for the seller IMO.

If it's a 58, I'd be interested. Just posted my 57 frameset (close, but no cigar): http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/4432118943.html

Odd, then, that he would post it as "or best offer". That type of stuff annoys me.

I just figured it wasn't meant to be.

I have a 10 speed Chorus groupset sitting here that sure would have looked great on that pretty frameset.
