Need some advice on turning my Skeletor into my try to do most non-mtb ride. Might be foolish but what the hell.

My bud and I last night threw on 7900 shifters and fd with the a 9 speed xtr 971 rd. He could get the 9 speed to shift thru all 10 cogs most of the time but it was not perfect. Any knowledge which 10 speed xtr/xt rd will work best with this setup?

shimano road levers, like 7900, are compatible with shimano 9s MTB rear ders so it 'should' work great..10s cogset and chain, yes? NOT compatible with shimano 10s MTB rear ders...

Done the above mucho times...10s road levers, 9s MTB rear der..big cogset, like a 11-36...10s chain.

Cable under the fiximg bolt on the rear der, not thru the plate somehow?

What's the biggest cog?

Ime you don't really need a long cage to do 32t.

Works perfect for me. Housing length and/or longer b tension screw are keys.

It should work right out of the box. No need for a longer b screw or anything weird.

As stated, make sure the cable is routed correctly.
