I will be having a road race frame built shortly and need to decide between scandium and 7000 series aluminum. In a size 51-52cm is there really much difference in ride quality between the materials? This bike needs to be responsive without being too harsh since I will use it for winter training. Scandium should be slighter lighter and slightly more expensive but it's not a significant factor in the decision. Comfort for day after day long warm weather rides is taken care of by a Moots SL.

What does the builder suggest?
If you trust the forum more than the builder.....how's that go E-R?
Good luck with your decision.

I wasn't trusting the forum but rather asking for opinions hopefully based on experience. The builder has a suggestion and I have taken that into consideration.

I was going to post that very thought. We do it all the time. Different materials or variations of such are perceived differently by individuals.

Isn't that one of the big reasons why Serotta uses different materials? Some prefer steel, some titanium, some carbon,.......
