If youre not partial to one or the other, eps looks a lot sweeter on those frames than di2...but that is just my opinion

There isn't a group on this planet expensive enough to match that frameset.

All joking aside, whatever you build it up with, I bet a lot of people on the forum would love to hear a firsthand account of how that bike rides. Hope it serves you well!

Easy, SR EPS and if the $ makes you blanch, Record EPS or a mix... SR/Record.

And if ya want, get Chorus cassette and chain, consumables, after all

Wowsers. That's a pretty bike.
Get whatever hoods feel better and forget about it while your climbing with that beast. If that rigs rides anything less than a 11% climb than you should return it.

I was thinking record eps...but ultegra di2 is just so cheap...and with 4 kids in hockey and just about every sport you can imagine...I'm almost considering it.

Athena EPS is fantastic stuff with only a slight weight penalty, which won't be a big deal with that kind of frame.

But yes, Athena or Ultegra electronic is pretty tough to beat imo.

Nice frame set. I would go with Di2.

Then get apex, at least for one ride, then you'll take that crap off faster than Charles can 'dis Rapha.

Or, Apex and some mismatched wheels (i.e. Bontrager Select on the front and some box section/32 spoke wheel on the rear).........:)

2x1 with a tensioner, think of all the weight he'll save.

I agree with several others--when you do get it built up I'd be interested in your impressions.

I went with Di2 and have zero regrets. I think looks is the only category where EPS beats the Di2.

I think lever shape and the lack of obvious clicking shifter levers is a fairly large drawback with Di2. Winter, big gloves, sometimes hard to find di2 shift levers. Why some teams put some grippy tape on one, to find it more easily. Otherwise they really work the same. Fewer connectors with EPS as well.

By the way: Beautiful frame. I love it's restrained purposefulness.

I'm admittedly biased...however having ridden both, one feels like your still shifting, the other feels like your in a life size video game...they both perform extremely well. One will also color coordinate much better with your new frame if aesthetics are important.

A friend has a RCA and went with 9070 and Mad Fibers, zipp cockpit bits. looks really good. People ask him about the MF lack of warranty but he just shrugs it off. IMHO anyone who can buy a RCA isnt teetering on the brink if the wheels go south. There are actually three of those RCAs around here...crazy

Little bit off topic here, but I love that table top the Rca sitting on. Did you happen to make that, or purchase?

I had that table made...I found a guy in a little town a couple of hours from here that made rustic furniture...that wood is over 100 years old..the old guy had wood from an old mill that has been there forever..I even had a matching cabinet made.

I'm with tater. I hate the button feel on di2. I often wonder if the sprint/satellite shifters are so popular in the classics not for the extra position but because they offer more error free shifting than the standard levers.

Wha? You bought the cool frame with the same family obligations, and now you want to go cheap on the parts? Go all in with op's suggestion of the high end mix and ride the hell out of it.

Does anyone have an opinion on the rotor 3D crankset? ?
This seems like a good deal....or should I stick with the matching crank from the groupset I buy?

not trying to start an argument, this is a sincere question: is di2 so much better that it would be crazy to consider shimano 11-speed mechanical? never tried di2 so i have no idea if it's better or by how much. thx.

mechanical is great...I have record11 mechanical on my CerveloS2...as well as Athena 11 on my old Pinarello Vuelta...but I wanted electronic for this build...something different to justify another bike to my wife..:)

Great frame , riding buddy built his RCA last year with
SR 80th Anniversary RD, FD, Cassette, chain and Shifter (this year he changed it with SR EPS)
THM Crankset
THM Brakeset
AX Lightness Stem, Saddle, Seatpost and Handlebar
Lightweight Obermayer Wheelset and Veloflex Tires
Lightweight Bottle cage
Time pedals
Ti Brake Cable

Here's what it look like last year to give you an idea.

The RCA is a WW frame, why put a "heavy" electric group on it. Go WW.

from 80th to v2 eps it's only a couple hundred grams difference, and with the eps the bike weighs shy of under 11lbs.

Would love to see some photos of the table and cabinet. I'm a carpenter not a cabinet maker but appreciate fine woodworking especially that which was made from recycled lumber. Maybe you can start another thread?
