Looking for some light-attachment experience.

Last year I got my first rear rack that I use on my commuter - the Axiom Journey: https://www.google.com/shopping/product/10819308599055849243?q=axiom+journey+rack&oq=axiom+journey&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i60l2j0l2.3184j0j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&ei=M_VLU8HKNcjM8wHPqoGYAQ&ved=0CK8BELok

As you can see in the picture, it has a little bracket on the back to attach a reflector/light to. I used that bracket and screwed a quick-attach light receptacle to it, so that I can quickly clip my light on and off when I'm leaving the bike behind. Well yesterday the light was aiming decidedly downward, so I went to bend the bracket back upwards and it just fell right off. Seems that where it makes it's 90 degree bend just fatigued and tore in half (probably from the bouncing up and down of hitting Boston's not so smooth roads).

It appears replacement brackets are available (http://lexcobike.com/index.php/product/item?id=171355), but I don't really want the thing falling off again. Anyone have any suggestions for something sturdy, but adjustable? Was thinking something from Home Depot like this (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-4-in-Zinc-Plated-Corner-Braces-4-Pack-13542/202950157) might be less likely to break on me, but also less able to bend.

I have a planet bike super flash on this bracket set to just steady red and a second light attached to the seatpost that is brighter and blinks.

Thanks in advance if you made it through that whole thing!

Looks like planet bike also offers a similar "L bracket" set, not sure if this one would be any more reliable & sturdy than the one that snapped on me: http://ecom1.planetbike.com/4000_1.html

You can rig lights to your bike in a lot of ways for pretty cheap. I have my planet bike zip tied and its been sturdy for the past few seasons and no problems...

Nothing a bit of time in the machine shop can't fix...

You might want to think about moving on to rack with a different design. My Tubus has a bar across the rear struts that is strong enough to take any hits. I bought a planet bike rack mounting bracket that screws right in.

It will be more money, but you will have a much stronger rack.
