I'm looking to buy a new Giant Anthem 27.5 in a size small and the frameset in that size is not even listed on Giants dealer ordering site. I'm not sure if its just out of stock or for some reason it can't be had in that size. I've found a few on eBay straight from Hong Kong. What do you think?

Assuming it's legit, seems like it would be tough to fake a hydroformed frame, and the seller has a high rating, what's the problem?

Warranty might be in question, I guess.

Fibica is legit. They sell OEM take off parts etc.

They're reportedly very good w/ responding regarding shipping damage and stuff, I'm not sure what'll happen when you file a warranty claim 3 years down the road though.

They look ok to me.

My only concern w/b how well it will survive the shipping. Would communicate with sellor, and ask him if he's packaging it for this many hand offs.

If a mountain bike can't survive shipping, I'm not sure I'd ride it. Think of it as a good QC test.

I was thinking more about the possibility of some idiot sticking a fork lift blade into the box and ripping it open, or the box getting crushed by some super heavy package, stuff like that.

this topic's been discussed a lot on the mtb forums. some weight weenies tried out the generic carbon 29er hardtail frames at the time. some bad but mostly good. if you could get it on the trail, they didn't explode or anything and reportedly rode fine. but the majority of the problems were with qc. things like headtubes and bbs that needed facing, odd rear spacing, clearcoat drips or unevenness, etc... and the weights they were posting were pretty impressive. if the only goal was lightweight, i guess it met their needs.

mind you, those were not branded. just the anonymous black naked carbon frames. something like this giant, who knows.

is much higher than I would venture but "each to their own" so for me or friend it is a DEFINITELY NO:mad:

I agree, but i have two options, buy a complete bike and try to hock the parts on ebay or buy from hong kong.... or wait another year.
