I have a blingy new post on my race/training bike and my old saddle bag that attaches to the rails and post started to wear through the clear coat on my post immediately.

Anyone have recommendations for a saddle bag that I can attach just to the carbon rails on my saddle? In other words, it needs to attach to the rails only but also be friendly to carbon rails.

There are some strap-only options like Lezyne's micro-caddy and Arundel Dual (this one is a bit too small for me). Then there are more involved options like Scicon clamp bags -- those are the ones I'm not sure about re: carbon rails, and they are kind of heavy.

I would like to carry a tube, tire irons, Co2 and chuck, and the obligatory emergency Clif bar.

You've already answered your own question, as far as I'm concerned.... I use the Lezyne Micro-Caddy. Love it. Straps on nice and tight, holds up high to the seat, attaches with soft material - so ought to be carbon rail safe (although I don't use carbon railed seats, so I have no experience here).

I have several Krieg "Benny"bags th at I first bought for the same reason, I bought my first one at NAHBS/Richmond and I really like them. Note that they do have a front velcro loop intended for the seatpost but it's totally unnecessary. The first couple I got never had the loop then they later added it without any other changes, I have no idea why though- they're nicely balanced not to move even when completely overstuffed (2 fat 28-35mm tubes, crank bros multitool, tire lever wrapped fat with duct tape, extra SPD cleat and a $20bill- it's my boy scout Be Prepared! approach to longer gravel rides) I cut off the front loop to protect my seatpost and they ride nicely without motion. Lots of funky colors, just the right size and they're a US small business.

I can recommend the Tool Roll made by Acorn Bags:

Carries what I need, is well made, and looks great on my 1982 Nishiki Cresta.
