Launching either the 2nd or 3rd Thursday in June: Kheer aur Shakkar cycle attire

I’ve been keeping deliberately quiet about this, but I’d like to reveal to my forum buddies that, based on requests from riders, specifically Matt Tuck, I’m getting ready to launch a brand of super-premium cycling attire, specifically made for extreme hot weather cycling. We’ll be using only the finest fabrics, Cytech chamois inserts, and production by one of the two places in Italy that actually produce premium cycling clothes.

But the real revelation is that we’re using 100% organic natural materials and have developed a specific weaving technique that literally causes 50% of the fabric to be suspended away from your skin, creating micro-channels for air diffusion and cooling. The technique uses a slack-tension weave where the threads are wound onto the two warp beams in groups of 10 to 16 for a narrow stripe.

This renders the jersey and shorts up to 50% cooler than the Castelli Climbers Jersey or that hothouse Rapha lightweight jersey. The jersey and shorts combine long-staple cotton or wool with a touch of lycra and our patented weaving technique. I think you’ll find the striped livery simultaneously modern and classic.

Stay tuned for photos and specs. I’ll be taking pre-orders in May.

No, but I'll take FRNs. Which are basically like Bitcoins, I think.

First products will be a sport jacket for early summer riding and a pair of 9" inseam shorts for urban adventuring.

This is my first prototype; the final product will a bit slimmer cut, with a narrower leg and shorter inseam. They'll be available in blue/white and gray/white, with a charcoal and blue pocket on the rear of the jacket. They'll also be stretchier.

Thanks to Philippe for modeling these. Sandals are his own.

I certainly hope you've got a good start on the stache because no one will take your line seriously if you haven't.

After J Press shut the Madison Avenue location, Jay Walter who handles their Made to Measure business (and was previously at 346 Madison before Press) joined Kheer aur Shakkar.

The tailored clothes are hand made by union workers at Martin Greenfield in Bushwick. All jackets are unconstructed 3-roll-2 and are made of cotton, cotton/linen, wool/linen, or wool.

The shorts I decided to have made in Italy, so they chamois don't have to be transported so far before they're slaughtered at Cytech.

(None of the above is true, but Jay is a friend, so I don't think he'd mind...)

Hello,

Does this also mean I can wear it over fresh tattoos?

Thank you!

Thanks! I love them.

Actually yes. What you see here is me sporting a prototype. As soon as Christian has enough cash flow from his cycling clothing business we will probably joint venture for production of those SPD sandals.

Too bad the picture is a bit blurred in the background because I am also working on matching ultra slim pedals. They are on my race bike behind me in the pic.
