I have a trove of clean + very good to good condition fitness clothing - jackets, jerseys, shirts, tights etc. (No bike shorts - I pitch them!) that I need to donate.

Goodwill always an easy option but I would appreciate any recommendations of organizations that may have a more direct use for these items. Willing to ship at my expense.

Also need a counselor to prevent purchasing new items that I do not need!

Thanks!

High school/collegiate cycling team?
Velodrome with a community cycling program?
Bikes Not Bombs?
World Bicycle Relief?

Lately some people say that Goodwill has gotten a little big and a smaller percentage of the money they make on selling goes back to actually helping people out.

This one may take shipped donations. They have a nice store with a few gems that pop up now and then.

FTAGH in the Classifieds. "Free" == "Cost to ship".

That said, my guess is that there are few people here "in need", so charity may be a better choice. Or Goodwill.

A bit far for you to ship, but the Re-Cyclery in Marin sells donated bikes and clothing to fund their programs for disadvantaged kids:

It has been my experience that local soccer and running shops often have a big collection box in their store where they collect shoes and apparel for kids in foreign countries. Around here, currently, the shops are collecting athletic apparel and shoes for kids in Africa. I would check those shops first.
