View Full Version : Dura Ace 7700 Shifters with modern bars?

I'm just looking for examples of Dura Ace 7700 shifters on more modern bars (last 5-7 years or so). In the late 90's and early 2000's it seems the bars were either traditional bend (ie. Deda Newton) or Anatomic (ie. ITM). I'm looking for a newer bar to use these with and just wanted some feedback/examples to work from. I've tried with the Zipp Traditional bend but wasn't crazy about them and also wanted something with a little shorter reach. I'm thinking maybe Deda Zero100. Any other input/examples/ideas?

Thanks

+1 regarding the Deda Zero 100 bars playing well with the DA 7700 units.

These were 7800 on Soma HWY One 26.0 compact bars. I think 7700 would look better. http://www.outsideoutfitters.com/p-24924-soma-hwy-one-bar.aspx?variantID=75653&gclid=CLCKiOKjsb0CFRQV7AodZyYASw

Depending your mount diameter, check our the Soma Highway One or the Ritchy Classic Curve. Oops just saw H1s come in 26 or 31.8" diameter.

FSA Omega Compact and Wing Pro Compacts and DA7700 are a good match. Zipp Short and Shallow not bad either, along with ones already mentioned. Ritchey Curve bars are OK, too.

Civia and Hwy One are two of my favorite compacts plus best bang for the buck.
Civia is the cleanest of the bunch with their simple dots instead of gaudy logos seen on other bars.

I have ST-7700s on FSA Omega compacts. They look and work fine.
Bar geometry is the same as the high-zoot FSA carbon compact bars.

No complaints here--7700 shifters on Ritchey Classic Handlebars.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! I am considering picking up a set of the Ritchey WCS NeoClassic bars. I have a set of Zero100 so I will give those a shot first. I'll post a pic once I have everything all set up.

The PRO bars work well with STI (of course, they should, being made by Shimano). I have 7700's on PLT Compacts and 7800's on Vibe 7S rounds.

I thought about the Pro bars as well. I'll look into the two models you mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion.
