View Full Version : What looks better on a ti frame?

So I've got a ti frame coming, matte finish, putting a black Enve fork on it.

I know it's opinion, but matte ti seatpost or enve seatpost? Going to be a layback post and the it would be a sweetpost most likely.

Any advice? Not sure what route to go. The rest of the build is black (chorus and WCS parts)

Enve post or ti post with black accents/hardware.

D'ya get the Eriksen?

If so, Sweetpost and de-stickered Moots stem.

Ended up with a new serotta fondo....sad to end up with my first serotta so soon after their closing... But it should be a perfect fit and exactly what I'm looking for... Now the tough decisions ;)

I would go black to match the fork.

Enve fork with Enve seat post with Enve stem with Enve bars.

Think this isent a very good looking combo imo (stem ruins it for me) and its sorta been done :)

I have Moots stem and post on my IF ti Planet X, the fork and panels are white. I was going to go Moots on my Firefly, but decided I like the looks of Enve stem with the black Enve fork (seatmast so no post).

Either will look awesome, PM if you need a 27.2 Enve setback seat post.

Enve fork with Enve seat post with Enve stem with Enve bars.

I'm with Saab here; go full Enve pamper package. Include the wheels if you can swing it! My Ti Indy Fab has a matte enve fork and black thomson stem/post and I think it looks pretty snappy.

moots post, moots stem, even if it's an enve fork.

unfortunately the stem is a miracle to come by...

Moots seat post and stem w/o stickers. Black seat will be enough to complement the other black items. Will the enve fork logo color match the Serotta decal/anodization?

I still like the black with Ti better than all Ti.

On bare ti frames, my general approach has been to use Moots stems and either Moots or Eriksen seatposts (and Moots/Moots if it's a Moots frame). If the frame is not a Moots, I will desticker the stem and seatpost. A black stem and seatpost combo also looks good. When it comes to stems I prefer ones that have a similar proportion to the toptube (so, Thompson, Zipp, 3T, etc.)—the Enve stem can look bulbous if the tubes of the frame are too skinny.

Not bare ti, but to give an idea of the proportion of the stem:

Very nice Bill!

ok, we might as well close the thread now.

seriously, on my CR I went with the moots layback so the seat tube had some ISP like continuity to the saddle (and the fact i could some how rationalize the post, less so the stem). so my front end is black...thomson X2 and ritchey carbon evolution (affordable and gets the job done)

sadly, i'm not quite in the wooly/happy world of RSL stems and blinglespeeds :)

I have a carbon post on my Axiom Sl now, but I think a Ti Campagnolo Chorus post would look even better...go Ti if you can.

I had black stem/post on my bare seven, it really lets the frame do the talking:

I'm a fan of as much matching stuff as possible. I think it looks nice.

That said, there's not doubt that the graphics on the Enve products are too much.

Less is often more and in the case of their graphics, less would enhance the aesthetic. Either with black on black or gray on black or just smaller, more subtle branding.

Still, I'd match the stuff if it were my bike. I don't know about today's Ti stems but they used to be notoriously flexible. And I have mixed emotions about Ti seat posts unless they are made by the frame manufacturer.

A little contrast goes a long way to creating a balanced aesthetic. Go with a black or silver headset. I tried to match an IF Ti frame with a King pewter headset and I don't care for the result.

Go Ti. The enve stuff is hideously busy.

For a Ti bike, I agree with aesthetic in the monochrome harmoniousness achieved from the full monte implementation of the wooly-effect.

I'm sure Enve makes great components, although they're thankfully better at carbon design than graphics design. ;) Eradication is but an acetone away.

Echoing much of what's already been said, but I'll throw my vote on the side of preferring a ti seatpost if it matches the frame. Same with the ti stem. If you can get the frame builder to do all three, that's a pretty sweet look.

The Enve stem does not do it for me.

happycampyer
03-26-2014, 06:25 AM
If you go with black components, the more subdued the graphics the better imo. Lots out there that are black on black. Add a black headset and seatpost collar and the frame will stand out as others have said.

Opinions on a Deda dark metal polish stem on a ti frame? Anyone have photos of this stem on a ti frame?

It will look good on most ti frames, but IMHO, it won't with a Moots due to the brownish tint of their finish. Again, my opinion.

always see TI with enve. TI with TI is genuinely beautiful

Well, the decision in made. Went with all black for this. I know it's been done, but it's what was calling me... Enve fork and seatpost and going to black out the decals, Ritchey wcs black stem and carbon bars... Rest of the build will be chorus black

Similar to this look which is what got me going on ti frame

Good call imo. Both fork n seatposts are really nice esp blacked out, and you picked ritchey over the enve stem so its all good :)

You will love it im sure regardless of these decisions.
