Hey Legend experts....I'm very interested in this Serotta Legend frame, but I noticed what appears to be a 'dimple' in the drive side chain stay, near the BB. In the seller's photos I can't see a similar one on the non drive side. Is this damage, or some detail unknown to me? Thanks.

That looks like a releif to allow for clearance of the small chainring.

For chain ring clearance.
Hard to accidentally dent Ti.

Totally normal and as delivered from Serotta. No dimple on the NDS chainstay; that's just the lighting/reflection. Looks like a clean example of a Legend.

There are two hints that it's for chainring clearance.
1. It's on the drive side.
2. It's symmetrical with respect to the tube.

When tubes are mangled in an accident, whether it's through riding or transportation (like on a car rack), the dents and dings are rarely symmetrical, especially if they are relatively long like this one.

Confirmed for sure for chain ring clearance. The larger oval OS chain stay required less of a dent if any at all.

It is a true wonder and joy of metalwork.

The virtuosity of the workmanship that went into the Legend is really something to behold, and more and more details reveal themselves the closer one looks. Even though this frame doesn't have some of the latest refinements (eccentric machined headtube and bb shell; ovalized chainstays, etc.), it still has the many features that make a Legend unique and give it its special ride quality.
