A non-cycling friend of mine came into possession of this sweet Colnago titanio. It's equipped with 9 speed Record and Shamal 12-HPW wheels.

She wants to sell. How much should she asK?

Thanks

Depends on size. Also, how?

It's a Colnago and in great shape!

A quick search on eBay on completed listings for Colnago titanium shows a range of $800+ to $1300 for bare frames, and the closest to that bike was AD Bititan that sold for $2399--but that is a bike with a little more cool factor.

Wheels alone would probably sell for $1000 on the 'Bay...

I had no idea that they did the Titanio with that equilateral construction. Would you mind if I snagged a copy of the picture for a thread on Roadbike Review (http://forums.roadbikereview.com/colnago/titanium-123438-2.html) where I started trying to sort out the various versions of Colnago titanium frames?

Wow! That is a RARE beast and in stunning condition. I would say that it is worth North of $2K. Does your friend have an eBay account? If so, I'd say take as MANY decent pics of the bike as they can, write up as many details as possible, and put the ad up with a high reserve (over $2500) and see what it brings.

So, is this the same one?

If so, it looks like she already has it listed. Not sure it's worth what she's asking, BUT it is a REALLY nice and rare bike.

I'm unfamiliar with this model but may I assume it's made of titanium? Didn't GT bikes have that treatment of the stays on bikes?

Yes.
Colnago called it equilateral ( or something close) and wasn't so thrilled with it.

The cynic in me says they're rare because they cracked early and regularly. A local Cat 3-4 team had them back in the day and many of their frames were cracked before the end of April. The same core group of racers still race together and you won't hear a nice word about those frames from any of them.

On the other hand I thought they were the coolest looking bikes. Every now and then I think about how I might make (aka commission) a twin downtube frame.

Colnago used that seat stay arrangement for a while. They had the slim seat stay steel frames with that treatment.
