I guess Valverde must have been on the forum yesterday and read the criticism. What a finish! Too bad for Pozzovivo. All that time on the front and not only does he lose to Valverde, but he gets swallowed up before he can finish.

Although Ag2r still finished 2nd....weird.

What i said, the guy has a lot of heart to race. Podium is podium, they have sponsors to please.

Yeah, that was a beauty finish. Only somewhat dramatic with the peloton chasing down beside the Colosseum.

A win and a third in Roma Maxima and Strade Bianche, a pretty good weekend for Valverde. Here's hoping he and Gilbert can have the battle in the Ardennes we're always hoping for .... a little more like Boonen vs Cancellara (although that one is yet to really show the true fireworks as well, with all the crashes and injuries.)

And winning Roma Maxima is worth exactly the same UCI points as winning Strade Bianchi as they are both rated 1.1.

Valverde, a man with a history. Apt for winning in Rome.

I delayed my ride this morning to watch the finish...it was worth it.

Pirated Eurosport streams via sportlemon. Steephill and Cyclingfans usually have direct links. Make sure you have an ad blocker...and don't install any of the crap the page asks you to install.
