Exquisite. That is all.

Yep. It's a monster. I think it's his best work. Soulful, stripped down, orchestral. Really beautiful.

Beck: Morning Phase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_Phase)

Probably not to everyone's taste, but if you look at his entire body of work you can probably find something you'll like.

Yep, I love it too. Also just bought two CDs by Broken Bells--sort of similar vibe going on. You might like them if you are in this mood.
Other recent faves: Sam Baker (any of his 4 albums); Jason Isbell, Southeastern.

I love it too but is it weird that my favorite album is still the guerolito remix album? and one foot in the grave

Saw Beck play Treasure Island Music Fest. It was pretty sweet. He sang a duet with Alexis Krause from Sleigh Bells, and he covered Billy Jean. It seemed like that was mostly just an excuse to moonwalk though.

I've heard a bit of it and it sounds good.

heard him on SNL last weekend. He was awesome. Reminded me of that perfect album from 10 years ago... Sea Change. Thanks for the recommendation! Will be my next CD purchase for sure (yes, I still prefer CDs!).

Sea Change is a really strong work. I've always liked down, sad, depressing music... Yes really. But I only like it when I'm feeling good- so right now Sea Change is not on the playlist.

I heard him on SNL last weekend too and it made me cringe and not want to buy the new CD.... I actually hit mute until it was over.

Picked up yesterday. Now reading this thread, I'm even more excited to listen.

I can relate to this. Sea Change is great, but haven't heard anything from Beck since. Sounds like this latest work is a good way to get reacquainted.

Listened to a couple song snippets and thought it sounded to much like Sea Change to get it. Is it different enough to merit getting it?

He was all over the Charlotte Gainsbourg CD.

Took me a bit to get into that one, but love it now.

The new Beck?

Slow, contemplative and introverted.

This one will take me a bit as well.

The high def download is terrific. I hear from some peeps that the vinyl is pretty darn good as well.
