My rear Schwalbe Marathon blew out a sidewall last weekend. The front has some life left on the tread and is a size 28. I have a pair of Vittoria Rubinos in size 25. Any harm in keeping the slightly worn 28 on the front and using a brand new 25 on the back?

You'd be better off using the 28 in the back (more cushion, comfortable ride), and as Christian educated me, best to have the newest tire in the front for handling reasons.

+1 Agree on two of my rules of thumb - newer tire up front, wider tire in the rear.

Just like the mullet rule..."business in the front, party in the back."

Makes sense. Thanks for the advice. :)
