AWESOME! Well done Sacramento P.D. (and that citizen who jumped in to hold the thug down).

"Oh but he was such a good kid..."

I bet that cop was feeling it later in the day. He hit some protruding bike parts. Had to have hurt.

If you watch the video, there is some kind of police activity going on on the left at the beginning. I wonder if this guy wasn't just a bike thief. And the police were looking for him when he thou the could make some kind of getaway they nailed him.

Had a Columbus tubed Motobecane stolen from me as I turned to get a hose to inflate a tire back in the 80s. This is good to watch as therapy......:hello:

If you read the article, they were pursuing him when he hid out in that house, and tried to steal that bike as his miraculous getaway.

So he actually wasn't really a bike thief at all...

Figured that's what happened.

I believe that makes him a bike thief. ;)

What we need is a sentencing enhancement for the use of a bicycle in the commission of a crime.

He has a ponytail and was wearing a vest. Crocs are not that much of a stretch.

Close by to my old hood. I know that area well.

Wow, that's one great tackle. Sign him up as a linebacker.

I am impressed with his time-trialing, aero position.

from the op's link:

"The 19-year old had fled from police at a nearby railway station and was being pursued by local news teams and police officers, who had set up a perimeter around the area."

"Before his attempted escape, police had tried to detain him for outstanding arrest warrants involving the taking of a vehicle, issued in December."

that explains why there's police on either side of the street and a camera crew there in the first place
