I bid for, and shockingly won, the 58 cm CIII which was for sale on eBay!! I can hardly believe it. I did not really expect my bid to win and really almost didn't want to win, but the price is good. I am not sure if it is the right size (I think I need a 57), but this will be a good way to see for sure about the size and I can probably re-sell it if it doesn't work out.

Pleasant surprise for me and a good way for me to get on a Serotta at a price I can afford.....

Gonna be fun trying it out.

BTW, is $571 +$40 shipping a good price for this thing? I guess it is. It includes a fork and King headset.

Congrats & welcome to the club. TT will fit you for your Serotta smoking jacket I pipe. Bring your own scarves. Color combo must match your frame & fork. After that, Ben will give you the key to the club and you're in.

The fork is an O2, which looks like a standard Reynolds Ouzo Pro. Anyone know for sure what it is?

I believe the O2 is an Ouzo Pro that passed Serotta's QA/QC Control in addition to Reynolds.

Congratulations on the CIII. I have had one since 2001 and love it.

BTW, I don't know how to post links anymore...... If anyone can find this and post a link it would be cool.

I am sort of excited, but I don't really know which bike will be sacrificed to build this one up. Unless I can get a cheap groupo somewhere......... I already have some extra wheels.

Nice going! Sounds like a great deal.
Don't forget to post pics once it's all together, or maybe even a link to the auction perhaps?

my ottrott came to me with a wild bid on the serotta
silent auction...

Saab: Congrats that is a great price. I bet it fits well with your saddle just about all the way back on a post like a ritchey and with a ritchey or similar 13cm stem and 0-15mm of spacers. I'll be real curious how you like your weight distribution and the trail figure. I can almost guarantee you will find it a very smooth and planted ride with excellent torsional characteristics. The tapered tubes are something special.

Christoph,

I imagine there will be zero cm of spacers, and I will possibly have to have the head tube shaved. But we'll see.

I have a Chorus Ti seatpost and a Turbomatic 2 saddle which will be put back into service here. I also have an extra set of Record-hubbed Velocity-rimmed wheels which will be put to use.

I will need bars, stem, crank, BB, front and rear ders, chain, brifters, cassette, cables and brakes - basically a whole gruppo if I don't wish to part-out another bike. My Strong my be the one sacrificed here.....

Congratulations Saab! I look forward to seeing that riding away from me in the Chester County hills one of these days

Use it well,

Hey Saab, my brother in Carlisle PA was bidding on this bike and emailed me this morning to see if I thought it was a good deal. He wants to join the Serotta club with his big sis! Glad this CSI stayed in our forum family. I love the paint job. If the bike doesn't fit you--PM me so I can put you in touch with my brother!

Nice, bro! I was watching that one and wondered who would get it. I'm glad to hear that it was someone from around here!

That's beautiful. The fork is basically an Ouzo Pro. Great paint. Looks fast without components or wheels! Congratulaitons.

I also think you got a very good price if the bike comes as advertised.
