I usually watch a cycling race on youtube, and another youtube window of house music at about 30-50% volume, so the race commentary has a back beat. Then I follow drills out of Cyclist's Training Bible or other training books, web sites.

I have used some spinerval vids. They are ok. I hear sufferfest are better. Spinervals are pricey IMO.

In a related note, what cycling related content at netflix?

I'm a big fan of the Discovery Channel "Man vs." genre. Wild, Food, at. al. I just put on the subtitles. Mindless enough yet addictive.

If cycling is what you want, try the Red Bull replays of the UCI downhill races this season; they did an outstanding job. And the season long battle between Gee Atherton and Stevie Smith comes down to the final run of the final series race. Does that whet your appetite?

If your internet is slow you can use Download Helper in Firefox and save the video during off times (like while you sleep). I didn't even know Strava offered videos so I don't know if it works there but you can pull down videos off of YouTube and the like. Then play off your hard drive and that keeps your internet connection out of the picture.

I also buy stuff in bulk (at least it seems that way) from World Cycling Videos, per a post I did here (http://sprinterdellacasa.blogspot.com/2010/01/training-dvds-from-world-cycling.html). I can pedal away many hours watching some of the longer DVDs (a good tip that a ride is really long is if I'm on my third DVD of the ride). It helps that I didn't watch racing on TV for many years (no cable/similar) so I didn't see the races as they happened. If I had my druthers I'd have the bike stuff I've already seen on the screen while playing music (of my choice) into earbuds. The first couple times I watch a race I usually don't know what's happening so I keep the commentary loud enough to hear.

I find music to be most inspiring when indoors, to the point that I will spend long periods of time with my eyes closed while blasting the music. My favorite is watching my own clips (http://www.youtube.com/user/SprinterDellaCasa) which have the music I like as well as visuals I can relate to.
