When I was first starting to get serious about cycling I remember constantly refering to his website for advice. Such a nice guy who clearly LOVED cycling. Rest In Peace

Anytime I run across a problem on a build he's the first to come to mind on how to solve it. He has been sorely missed and was always available via email.

in a former life, i off-handedly said, 'sure' when this girl i was interested in said, 'could you help me build a bike?' of course i had no idea what i was talking about. sheldon brown to the rescue; bike build and good year together, followed by five years of solid friendship. and still building up bikes for friends, no need to bluff anymore. thank you sheldon.

So few of us will leave a legacy in any aspect of out lives the way the Sheldon Did in cycling. Selfless man.

Can any of us ask for anything more after we leave this earth than to be held in such esteem?

Selfless, generous, knowledgeable.

Hard to believe it's been six years.

I met him at a bike rally in Massachusetts more than a decade ago. His Internet fame was still growing at that time. He really stood out in a crowd and his love for cycling was so evident. Nice guy and truly someone to admire. Cheers Sheldon.

Still refer to his stuff today. Helped me when I was that kid converting an old 10 speed to fixed... and then helped me again when I wanted to play with the gears again. Good man.

One of my enduring memories from my brief tenure at Belmont Wheelworks in the mid-'80s is hearing Sheldon's comment when he found the small hole that had flatted a tire. Showing it to the rider who'd brought it in, he repeated Mercutio's description of his fatal knife-wound, from ROMEO AND JULIET: "'Tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door, but 'tis enough, 'twill serve". Hilarious, yet exactly descriptive!

I remember thinking then, "It's not every bike mechanic who quotes Shakespeare on the job". But since that time my respect for him has grown even greater. Monsieur Sheldon Brown: nothing but class!

Man, time flies.

I still peruse his site for tidbits of info. Laced my first set of wheels (by myself) using his knowledge. True cycling hero, IMHO.

Yes, me too. I emailed him a couple times with questions and, even though he probably got tons of emails, he responded with answers to bike issues that I still use today. A really great guy for sure.

RIP. God only knows how many times I've visited Sheldon's site! He truly left a legacy that is sooooo beneficial to so many. I think every one of us can count numerous times when we've been asked, have asked others, or overheard "Have you checked Sheldon Brown's website...?"
