I recently got a Brompton and wanted a way to make my Detours Pannier fit the proprietary Brompton carrier block. Luckily I have access to tons of MakerBot printers at work. This adapter clips into the Brompton carrier block and holds the pannier up at the correct height. While designed for the Detours pannier, it will probably work with others.

I posted the 3D models up on Thingiverse if anyone else wants to download and print one.

WOW.

Very well done. You might have just inadvertently started a side business for yourself. There are lots of ppl who want to use a "normal" pannier with their brompton.

What are the plastics like from those 3D printers? Are the finished products as robust as you would expect from a production retail part?

This is printed in PLA, which is a bioplastic. The final part is very similar to injection molded ABS, and can often be stronger because you can print shapes that would not be injection moldable.

Just curious. What is that rough strip along the back that looks like flashing?

That little strip is Raft. Raft is a base platform that you can print under your model to help it stick down to the build plate better. Sometimes it can be hard to remove it fully though.
