This morning I rode with approximately 250 other southeastern Florida cyclists on a benefit ride for a well known area cyclist, Mike Tague, who's being treated forstage 4 lymphoma. Mike has been president of CycleFest which puts on bike races in West Palm Beach or Lake Worth and sometimes a touring ride. These events have raised more than $3 million dollars for the Lymphoma and Lukemia Society.
The highlight of the ride was visiting at Mike's hospital with the all the riders extending cheers and best wishes to the man as he was wheeled outside to great us, IV's attached. 250 enthusiasts, from the racing teams to recreational riders, can make quite a scene. It sent shivers up my back.
At the start-finish of this memorable ride, I bumped into our own Bill Bove who had set up a silent auction booth, offering countless items to help raise funds to defray Mike's frightening bills. And, among the items offered was a Polar 720i, donated by fellow forumite Ruddy.
God, you guys sure have class.
