"check out those gloves!"

Those are Dogwood Designs Pogies.

Arrowhead is a brutal event and Petervary is an amazing endurance athlete.

I would even settle for part of the route...
On a little friendlier weather pattern.
I ride in conditions like this
For an hour max...unthinkable
What was done on this ride!

Brutally beautiful up there this time of the winter.

Our cabin is outside of Ely, very close to an entry point to the BWCA.

We often can see the wolf pack running down the frozen lake and flowage near our place.

How any creature survives these winters is still amazing to me.

Yet, these guys are racing through it.

Simply unbelievable.

So any non-fat bikes in this race? From the pictures, it looks like all packed snow. Is a fattie even necessary? I ride around locally on snow trails and roads on my regular mtb (not even studs) or my cross bike. For that race, I would think maybe a set of regular studded tires would work just fine. But I've never been in that race or spoken to anyone in the know.
