Good question- my guess:

The Cannondale team co sponsor is Brixia Sport which is an Italian company.

The BMC team is co owned by American, Jim Ochowicz.

Likely within the sponsorship agreements, if a bike company is the co sponsor, they agree for the bike brand to be title name to promote/ sell more bikes?

It's how the teams register the country of origin with the UCI.

And how MTN-Qhubeka didn't get an invite boggles my mind.

I don't follow the Teams closely at all, but surprised not to see Euskaltel. It would be the first time in years they were not present. I'll miss the orange and green climbers.

Euskaltel folded last fall due to lack of sponsor.

I had a suspicion it was something like that. Too bad. Do you know if Orbea will be ridden by any of the listed Teams?
