The colors of the Topolinos is a good match for the bamboo. :D

Wonder how that thing rides? Bamboo fly rods rock, although they are split, shaped and glued together. They qre not mad of raw bamboo stock.

It rides pretty good actualy, a bit squishy and heavy but not bad. Bamboo is actually really strong. its used to build scafoldind in Asia. Time will tell how it fatigues.

I met a guy who owns one and I talked to him a day before he raced the bike in Hawaii Ironman. He said that the crank and front derailleur do not rub at any time (ie. it is stiff enough), and that the ride was very absorbant (sp?) of road vibration.

It is also the most beautifull bike that I have ever seen, followed by a copper plated Whitcomb, which was luscious beyond belief. Jeff Pass, hello wherever you are. Jeff owns the Whitcomb and unless it is wrecked or stolen, I am sure that he still rides it with sew-ups.

Cheers,

Kane

Maybe some day IŽll be able to have a bamboo bike. Maybe even a bamboo floor. Maybe just a bamboo fishing rod. :)

but no water bosses. Either camel or hang'm off the back. Seen several, need to test one someday.

Calfee can keep the bamboo bike. I do want a Hartzel fly rod. I had the pleasure of meeting Ed Hartzel about 10 years ago and getting a tour of his shop up on old germantown. What a gentleman and an artist. His attention to detail was second to none, kind of like Sacha. I still can't believe I did not put myself on his several year waiting list on the spot. Unfortunately, he passed away a year or so ago so it is now too late to work with this master.
