I'm sure everyone could have used this fix at least once

Thanks. I hope I never have to do that but it will come in handy if needed!

I did this years ago but did not have to cut the tube, good thing as I did not have a knife. I just tied a knot with the hole on the outside of the knot. Rode several miles home and it worked like a charm.

that's pretty neat. I read a ride report of someone that filled the tire with sticks -- now that is a rough ride. Funny thing about that story is that they had a spare tube they forgot about.

Genius! That could have saved my bacon a few times last year!

I did this mountain biking several years ago. Worked great.

Also tried stuffing leaves in the tire when I was really outta luck, also mountain biking. Not so great, but got me out of the woods a bit quicker.

Pretty neat trick.

Another: In a pinch, the flap of a Tyvek envelope which has the peel and stick on it acts as a patch and tire boot in one.

You don't even have to cut the tube.

Just tie a knot where the hole is and go from there.

Tested and confirmed by yours truly

f the hole is not that big just put some water inside (figure it out), will take longer for the air to go out that way.

Done this with freshly cut grass also, not weed but grass, ya know fescue.

did this on a ride out to a dead end and back, flatted at the dead end. main problem was that i didn't have a pump either. ugh. anyway, flagged someone down and pulled off this little emergency repair. worked enough to get me to a shop for a new tube and some air, but definitely didn't hold great pressure and would have required frequent re-inflation.

by the way, if you need to cut the tube, the chainring works well. just put the tube over the big ring and pull up on both sides of the tube. even better if your chainring is super worn and sharp...
