does anyone have either of these phones, and how's the user experience been so far?

I've got a Moto X. Been very happy with it. Really like the Motorola tweaks to stock Android, though I imagine you'll be seeing more of this influence in stock Android in future updates.

have you found the voice control at all useful?

i want to go android for orbot, and i'll also take on the firefox os. i want to give the NSA a run for its money.

+1 on the Moto-X. I too have been quite pleased with it. Feels great in hand with just the right form factor.

I find myself using the voice commands for personal reminders, and for occasionally opening an App while driving. The voice to text feature works well and largely understands my southern drawl.

I have the Nexus 5 and I love it. Super fast, functions flawlessly, battery life far outpaces any other smartphone I've had, and the camera is light-years ahead of that on any other smartphone.

I have a Nexus 4 (and have owned several) and it is outstanding. The Nexus 5, but for the early camera and/battery issues, is supposed to be even better. The Moto G is a step below both, but reportedly is a nice phone. Nexus 5 probably has LTE, I am not sure if Moto G does...I will get a Nexus 5 when the price goes down.

I've bought Nexus 4's as cheaply as $124 shipped, which I paid a few weeks ago. They can be found for reasonable prices. I bought another this week for $165. Android 4.4.2 and very fast.

Based upon my experience with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, I'd say get the Nexus 5 if the choice is the 5 or the Moto G.

HTC One also comes in a Google Play edition, but, if I recall correctly, also without LTE...

The Google Now voice control is really handy and does a solid job of recognizing my voice. Far better than Siri ever did. I'm a big fan.

Have the moto x... Not so happy with the camera, and my kids mock me any time I say "okay Google now...". Esp when I have to repeat myself.

nexus 5 - the only thing the moto-x has on it really is battery life and google now integration (which isn't even that slick imo)

from someone who listens to people complain / debate all the time between the merits of the two and has used both extensively.

thanks for the responses thus far.

i think i may choose to give the Moto G 8GB handset a try. i don't see the need for LTE as i'm not streaming films or games.

Tomorrow between 3pm and 4pm EST Motorola will be selling the Moto X for $299 (that's a $100 discount) and after 4pm for a $70 discount.
