I have a 2013 Specialized Tarmac SL4 S-Works. I am currently using Vittoria Corsa CX Clinchers in size 700x25. This rear tire fits very tight in the chain stays. I want to run Conti GP4000s 700x25 tires, however, I heard these run very wide for a size 25 tire. Anyone have any experience with this setup?
Thanks Mark

I have the same frame and train on Conti 25s but they are a couple years old. I'm on older DT rims and it all clears but just barely, I doubt with the wider rims it would clear. I wish 28's would fit because I hate flats, but the new SL4 frame ain't happenin' on 28's as you can see.

You shouldn't be flatting on 25 Conti 4000's. I run these at 80# on my SL3 Tarmac and virtually never flat - and put lots of miles on the bike. When I ran the Corsa CX's, I did have a few. So I am a little gun shy of the Corsa's now. Anyway, at 80# the Conti's are within spitting distance of the Corsa's in ride quality with better robustness.

The 4000's in 25 measure right at 26.5mm.

I have the 2012 version of that frame running Fulcrum Racing Zeros and the Conti 4000 S in a 25.... No problems at all... I run them at 100 #.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it...when in the shop, I tried tires onto potential customer's bikes, all the time..'will that 25c/28c fit my frame?'..well, lets slap one on there, air it up and see......yep, it does, 'I'll take 2'....it's NOT that there isn't a bunch of experience here on this forum, but one gent says, 'sure go ahead', you get those tires in 2 weeks from M.O.U.K. place..and they are too big...

Yes, I know some LBS are clueless in many things 'bicycle', but got a small, service oriented shop around?

That about sums it up...

what they said above
unless someone is running exactly what you want to and have the same frame model, year, size, wheels, tires, brakes, etc you won't know for sure.

there's probably enough variation in factory runs of the tires themselves to make it work on one but not another, all things equal.

Thanks for the replys. For what it is worth I have Enve SES 3.4 rims. I love the feel of the Vitorria Corsa CX tires but I get too many flats. Also, the outer rubber seems to tear easily. The Conti GP4000 tires seam bullit proof.

I had a 2014 Tarmac Pro SL4 and ran a Velocity A23 with a 25c Continental GP4000S in the rear with no problems. The A23 has a rim width of 21mm if I recall correctly. Should be good to go!
