Is there a way to lock up a campy freehub, with out tearing it up or welding... It's an 8 speed, if that makes a difference. Trying to do a fixie on the cheap.

Thanks,

It had never occured to me that it could be done. But I had read somewhere on the web that someone had welded a free hub to make it a fixed gear. I wouldn't go to that extreme... Like Serpico states; "don't coast".
If nothing else; I can rearrange the gears to get the correct gear on the hub too line up with the front chainring, and ride the bike as a SS; and don't coast!

Thanks y'all,

Uhmm I don't have a rear deraileur; and at the moment, don't really want to invest in one, just to cruise around the lake with my friend. But I do have a surly singleator(sp). I am trying to get this done on the cheap, throw a bunch of used parts at the C'dale, and see what sticks.

G'night, been a long day. y'all take care.

I remember in the late 80's an article in Bicycling or Winning Magazine o nhow to make your bike a winter trainer.

They were dealing with freewheels, and had you take it off, open it if you could, degrease it. maybe even scuff it with an abrasive, and then epoxy it.

Probably not what you were looking for, but funny/interesting. I think my old coach did this to a wheel. Sheesh, look at the time!
