Looking for an alloy stem that I could have painted.
Considerations:
Would like one that totally covers the steerer tube. No cute little windows or reveals/cut outs.
Would like a simple, flat face plate.
Many thanks.

ritchey wcs?
the older style 4axis stems have minimal cutouts without the strange bar clamp of the newer style

nitto makes a nice simple threadless steel stem like that, i believe ui-2 is the model

Yeah, I've used both the UI-2 and Ritchey Classic. Very nice.
The Velo Orange stems are light and inexpensive.

I had Sacha W paint a Thomson X4 for my Vagen and he had to remove the CNC marks on it (the entire stem!) so I think it was labour intensive. I ended up using it for a year, then switching to a standard black Thomson for the bike. The stem is collecting dust now :(.
THe outcome was pretty good, but in hindsight, I wished that I had used a Ritchey stem.
I love me a nicely painted to match stem!

I'm partial to the WCS stems for this application.
