I'm starting a small fitness oriented business and wanted to design and order kit (much like the LBS does.)

I'm aware of Primal, but do others have different suggestions? I will be ordering in small quantities.

Do any of the high-end vendors like Assos, Castelli, Rapha etc. do custom?

Assos does one shop's custom kit: Above Category.

Rapha doesn't do custom.

Castelli yes.

For small quantities, you should try:

Capo is also good, IMO

Voler is a popular choice, and does small runs.

I'm gonna go ahead and put in a bid here for Mickey and the crew at Spooky, who just recently opened up a clothing division when they took over a clothing company.

It's called Spooky Threads (http://spookythreads.com/) and if the clothes are as good as the bikes, why the hell wouldn't you order from them?! Minimum order is 5 pieces per style...

Toyed with the idea of having some Rapha Pro Team jerseys custom printed in the past. If I can remember who did such a thing I'll update this post since I believe they would take Assos or other new unwashed jerseys for printing.

I was hoping Rapha did. I reached out to Derrick on our New Year's eve ride, as I too am starting a new endeavor, but he said at the moment no. Furthermore, if they were further down the road, he wouldn't know - so don't reach out to him.

I'm using a local (NJ) manufacturer who has a no-order minimum, John Landino. He makes all the state champ kits and has some really nice stuff. His company's called DeathRow Velo - https://www.facebook.com/DeathRowVelo?fref=ts

I highly recommend him.

I've worked with John also, he can get MITI Fabric (supposedly the same supplier of fabric's rapha uses), a wide variety of styles, price points, kit pieces, etc. Additionally, the no minimum is great. I ordered a one off kit for the heck of it, and it cost me no more than buying something off the shelf at the LBS.

My local shop did an order through Verge a couple years ago. Very happy with the results overall (super comfy chamois which is rare in any custom kits I've had).

There's a new company in town (Chattanooga) focusing on cycling kits. I have no personal experience with them, though I have met the owner, seems like a good guy and the product looks pretty good too.

I have no idea the nature of your business, but what is the point of the kit? To wear as advertising? to give to customers? as a revenue generator?

You might skip the idea of the whole kit, since most people are pretty religious about their bibs and/or chamois, and just try to find someone to embroider your logo on a jersey.

Again, this may or may not jive with your overall purpose.

. . . for both forum clothing projects and had excellent service from them and high quality clothing.

10-15 years ago, when they were Vitesse/Verge, they suffered from QC problems including inconsistent sizing. No more. The sizing runs true and the pads and other aspects are great quality. I've got stuff from both eras and its' a world of difference.

Their prime line is manufactured in a plant in Poland, and their lower cost "V-Gear" line comes from China and the sizing for the China stuff runs a little bit smaller.

i've worn team kit produced Verge, Voler, and Champion Systems. all fine, all different in terms of construction/fabrics/methods.
pretty much any company offering custom kit will be happy to send samples that you can check out.

working with another venture on producing some new custom kit, there are lots of choices... so far one producer mentioned in this thread seems to only want to work with a small circle of 'cool kids'

I wouldn't discourage you from going with any of the MUSA options above. Voler is nice but can be slow. Also, look at Panache, which has a lot of fans.

If you really want to go high-end, a few shops in the U.S. and some bigger online outfits do have custom Assos. I came into a Signature jersey and bought an Above Category and they are far and above the usual custom kits but huge on the $$ end.

The other out of U.S. option, besides LG, which is nice, is Capo custom, which may be the nicest custom bib option short of Assos.

I like my Capo bibs, but may I dare say that my DRV (DeathRow Velo) bibs are even better. MITI Shield fabric feels great, the Cytech Chamois is super comfy without being a diaper, and the option to have power bands or not is a winner.. Really good stuff -- hate the name of the company, but really great stuff at really great prices..

Vermarc does high quality gear at as little as 11 units.
I have not found anyone that can work in these quantities at the same quality level.
You can get standard gear, or even the Forma Red type stuff.
Vermarc has a USA rep.

We do a kit run every year for our company charity bike team and have had excellent results from both Giordana and VoMax. Good stuff, true to size, their art people are great to work with (we do a different design and color each year) and the end product is good enough that riders are still wearing it regularly five and six years later.
