I'm migrating to the dark side (Shimano :)). Some of my campy specific wheel sets have to go. These were built my Justin Spinelli @ Luxe Wheelworks. Royce hubs born and bred in the UK. The fit and finish are awesome. On par with King, Alchemy, White, etc.

- Sliver Royce hubs, low flange front and Venus rear.
- 24 front / 28 rear
- CX Ray spokes - black
- H+ Son Archetype rims - black. 23 wide. There is minor wear on the black anodized brake track but from 10 feet away they still look all black.
- No tires, cassette or skewers
- Never weighed them but Justin said they were sub-1500 grams.
- Mileage - no more than 500.

Price: SOLD

The pic below is from Justin when the wheels were new as well as them on the bike. Add'l pics available upon request.

Thanks,

Ron

Very nice wheels! When you switch back to Campy, you'll be wishing you still had these. :) I recommend just stashing them in the closet until the experiment is over. :)

Assuming you are going to Shimano 11 speed, why not just keep the wheels since the reports are that all the 11 speed wheels play well with each other?

Good question. I'd like to have the ability to run lower gearing than Campy's 12x29 and Shimano can get me to 12x32 when needed. That flexibility is really the only reason why. Otherwise these would stay. I emailed Justin and he said that Royce doesn't have a conversion for Shimano 11 yet.

are you already running compact in the front?

I am. I've been debating this for a while but a couple times a year I ride where the climbing seriously outpaces my fitness level. I have a Sugino crankset that I've swapped to in the past but that is just a PITA. So, for the few times a year when I need super low gearing, I am debating this major switch. You're doing a good job in talking me out of it!!

Nice wheels! FWIW I'm currently running an ultegra 11 speed cassette with my chorus group and haven't experienced any issues at all.

During my SBTi freshen up I was drawn in by the DA9000 dark side and love it!

I'm still staying on the side of the Force. No, wait, not that Force! Still seeing the light and staying Campagnolo.

Now if these were the hard ano rims I'd have my wallet out right now....

LOVE those Royce hubs. Recently got a set of Venus hubs laced to Open Pro and dig the hell out of them. Such a unique style of company that I can't help but be into them.

Are you going with a mid cage 6800 Shimano rear deraileur? Havent seen a DA 9000 mid cage available and short cage capacity is 28T.

Would also hold off on selling off the SR group and wheels until you are certain that Shimano "is your destiny Luke" ;)

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Good thought on keeping the SR on hand. I had DA 7900 a few years ago and I was fine with it but prefer campy hoods. Although I hear the new 9000 hoods are better than the old ones.

Nice wheels. Super tempting if I hadn't just bought a set of Pacenti SL23...bumping 'em up to the top.

If these were Shimano a check would be headed your way. This is exactly what I am looking for. GLWTS.

Running campy 11 speed cassettes with shimano equipment is supposed to work great. I can sell a 12-29 chorus cassette with the wheels if needed.

10s or 11s?

11s, just get a shimano 11-32, 11s chain and I think that's possible w/o swapping cages.

10s..kinda tougher but using a sram long cage Rear der with Campagnolo 10s ERGO DOES shift shimano/sram 10s spacing...better than using a Campag RD and a shimano 10s cogset. Middle ground is Campag 10s ERGO/long cage Rder and shimano 9s cogset and chain.

EPS..the RD doesn't care really about the cog size, just the position of the RD top pulley with regards to the rear wheel/cog...if the chain is the right length, it will move to where the 32/34t cog is.

BUT what I would do is get the compact, 12-30(12-29/11s)...all Campagnolo and just not worry about the lowest gear possible with a 34/32 biggest cog.

a 34 and 30 cog or 34 or (11s) 29 cog...3 teeth....not sure it's worth all the above, IMHO.

I have an experiment planned myself: Shimano 11s wheels with 11-32 cassette on otherwise Campy bike.
