there must have been an interesting back room deal to get rid of a lot of the remaining Serotta stock. old news i know, but wanted to point out the beauty they have up right now, if it were my size i would be surely tempted to make an offer:

that frame in particular is pretty interesting...a real 7-11 race frame with chrome? that's quite rare indeed! if it were only like 6cm bigger...

Really good dudes at Pro's Closet. They also had a Jan de Reus last week, which I've seen a handful of. Have one on my wall at the moment and I will never get rid of it. Beautiful bikes.. This thread started an hour long eBay scavenger hunt.

. . . unloaded all their remaining Serottas to Pro's Closet. That's why you are seeing them there.

Don't know what you mean by an "interesting back room deal?"

This is what the Pros Closet does. They help people move their stuff on ebay for a fee, and they seem to be a pretty good outfit for moving higher end gear.

I've spent a lot of time the past few weeks gazing at the Meivici with 7-11 homage livery and pondering how much I could stretch myself on the rack. But probably not as much time as I've spent through the years wondering if I should buy a copy of Edward Serotta's book on memory and photography.

I think I've won bids on stuff they were selling on ebay three or four times and there has always been some sort of problem. Be careful.

Really? Do you mind sharing specifics? I've dealt with them five times mostly without a hitch -- though I did think they oversold the condition of one item considerably, and that annoyed me a bit.

Oversold condition, seat post sold as 27.0 was really a 27.2, and fork that was sold as 700c was actually for 650c.

I saw that 7-11 team bike several months back at their shop in Boulder. At the time they said that it was going to be a display bike for them and wouldn't be sold. Guess they changed their minds. It's a cool frameset for sure.

I think I've won bids on stuff they were selling on ebay three or four times and there has always been some sort of problem. Be careful.

I think that part of the problem is that they get a bunch of the stuff from former pros and other sellers and don't always know the history of each piece. Although they SHOULD know better, it doesn't mean that they know all of the specifics (good or bad) for each item.

I've bought a couple of items from them (including a former CSC team Look that was Tyler Hamilton's bike). They haven't always been perfectly knowledgeable about items that I've asked about, but they've been very responsive and friendly.

I am not saying don't buy from them, just be careful. The SP that I bought for example was an item I needed and saw with less than a couple of minutes left on bidding so no time for me to research. After I finally got around to my build I found the SP did not fit. A quick look at the manufacturers website and I found that particular post was only sold as a 27.2 and 31.6. It took me like a whole 2 minutes. Something that should have been done by PC.

It is my size but I if had enough change in the couch I would make an offer. It is a real piece of history regardless of who rode it. However they listed the year of the bike as 1978 and I am sure they meant 1988.

Sweet frame. I also have used pros closet and had issues,
Ordered a English gxp bb and got an IT.
Won an auction for 2 tubular tires and one was flat, didn't even hold air for 1 min.

Anyone know if there is a back stock of forks somewhere?

would ride great I'm sure, but would look equally awesome mounted on a wall. Great piece of history there.

Wow, this frame/thread brings back memories of wearing out my VHS copy of Cycling for Success when starting riding/racing back in the 80's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E544BcanO4&list=PL18AEB41347E6EEC7

The music is pretty corny but the vid, imho, contained some good foundational riding tips. Watching the limited race clips on the video was also helpful for me to model position and fit- cycling video was extremely limited back then! :)

Hammer it out! ;)

FYI- a chrome stay Huffy frame can be viewed at 3:44

If it's Saratoga Frameworks selling off remaining inventory, that Huffy frame was hanging at the Serotta Factory when I took the tour.

Mark is one hell of a talented builder. He does it all and has just about seen it all after many years in the biz.

Nice frame. Nicer provenance. If I were in the market, I'd jump on it.

My second after the first got killed when I got hit. Mark decided to go direct, I'm a believer in riding what ya sell, so sold it to my trusted attorney. Great ride ala the finest Euro steel.

That 7-11 has a long way to run if I read the auction notes correctly

So far at $1700

Not bad for a piece of cycling history

I wish I had some spare $$$$

VERY interesting! Was the C35 that they have for sale in your shop at one time? I could have sworn that I saw it hanging on the wall at Vecchio's...

Yep, 35th anniversary Colnago also. Belongs to a friend who lost his house in the flood, no flood insurance, hence the sale of the Colnago.

How much?
I was curious on size as I just sold my 7-11 because it was too small.

It sold in a matter of hours via buy it now so I wasn't sure if I got "fair market value"

There was a good deal out there at the beginning of December when they started posting the remaining Serotta's. I still have it in my watch list. "NEW 2013 Serotta Fondo SG Titanium Road Bike Frame Set // 59cm Cycling Blue". I don't know a lot about this particular frame, but someone picked it up for $1325 w the fork. I really hope there is a secret stash of forks they will start listing.

Good people at PC, but they could use an education in Campy and vintage road bike values.

FWIW, They bought the remaining inventory from SF outright.

Make an offer on those frames with the option, seriously. :)

Pro's closet used to have some really good buy it now prices a few years back, they seem to have gone up a bit over 2013.

They do have some 'select' items, that's forsure:

Pro's Closet does not have a stash of Serotta forks. I asked, they said no, complete frames only. No spare forks on hand.

Too bad. I'd love to get one.
