Wanted: Your old Ti MTB frameset.
Litespeed / Merlin / Moots / etc... Hardtail or YBB simple rear suspension. Canti OK, disc compatible a plus. Size around 18"... 16" ok but 20" too big. Let me know what you've got hanging and collecting dust... I need a new fireroad project bike! Thanks.

Yes... but probably out of the budget. Let me know what you're thinking. Thanks.

Interesting with the EBB. Looks like it can be run with gears or SS.
I have one and love it.

By flyhippy's Litespeed. Needs nothing. Radical seller and among the world's finest pack and ship artistes. Bet it takes longer to unpack than it does to ship!!

I have a Dean Colonel with canti and disc mounts. Old school graphics...Dean said from early 90's. Obviously, the disc mount was a later modification.
I'll have to look later, but I'm pretty sure the seat tube is 18" and the top tube is 22". I'm 5'7" with average enough proportions.
I could be convinced to let it go to an enthuasiast :) PM if interested and I'll be sure to take some pictures.

Man, that is a sweet bike. Thinking of contacting seller and seeing if they will ship. Nice find.

Nobody wants 26" wheels any more (as what was fine for decades suddenly won't roll ).
There are some great deals out there.

Yeah, I want to go back to v-brakes and ancient suspension forks, too. :)
Bikes have improved a lot since the 90s.

V-brakes work fine. Lighter and simpler than discs.
For that Litespeed, I'd maybe do a fork with a disc and live with v-brakes in the back. ...cause after all 70%+ of your braking happens in the front!

Thanks for the replies and offers so far! Still looking... ideally a frame not a complete. Budget around $500... I've seen some older Litespeeds/ Mongoose/ TST/ Airboune go for that on Ebay lately. I certainly don't need the latest and greatest... this is going to be a drop bar fireroad franken-bike. The suspension will be mostly air... air in the tires that is. Thought I'd check here first. Thanks again!

My buddy has an Ibis Silk Ti that he's looking to sell. Unfortunately, it's complete: SRAM, XTR, XT kit; Mavic Crossmax wheels; Marzocchi fork. If you're interested in more details, please let me know.

I drop people all the time when I ride my oldest bike with V-Brakes and a very light SID SL that is over a decade old. Wow, just think how crazy strong, and lighting fast I would be if I was on a bike with bigger wheels and a fork that rebounds with .07% less stiction. World Cup here I come!
BTW- that bike also has narrow bars without rise AND bar ends... I may as well be riding a 125 year old high-wheeler (at least according the people who read bike ads and confuse them with academic papers or gospel).

As for the brewing debate about 26" vs. 29" wheels and V vs. disc brakes, meh. I had a truly great 29er briefly and returned to riding 26" wheels. 29ers, as everyone says, roll well and are fast. But I missed being able to toss my bike around on the trail. Maybe this is a matter of having grown up riding 26ers. Or maybe it's just that 29ers aren't at their best for medium-sized and smaller riders. I don't know. That said, I do think disc brakes are a major improvement in most ways that matter: better stopping power, better in sloppy conditions, better modulation, less hand cramping, etc. They're worth the extra weight and expense, in my view. Even still, V brakes work just fine for most applications.

This has been on the "semi" local CL for several weeks. 19" Moots YBB. I'm a bit far to facilitate a sale but someone on here closer to Baltimore might be able to help if you are interested and the seller won't ship.

These normally sell for $12-1500 all the time. I am surprised it is still for sale.
Great bikes BTW.
