They would have made packing the Traveler's Check just a bit tidier.

Has anyone tried them yet?

Have not tried those, but normal bolt-on cable stops work nicely on S&S frames if you just unscrew the stop from the frame, so the IRD design should be equal or better...

Lest anyone think OP's quibble is trivial, I humbly offer the dark underbelly of muchness' observation:

This type of cable stop, undeniably attractive though it may be, absolutely sucks for a travel bike!

I have those stops on my S&S bike and with DaVinci cable splitters it is a non-issue.
Santana and Ritchey make them, too.

brazed on downtube split stops and then just put Jagwire Rocket adjusters near the brifters. But I had never seen those IRD ones. Kinda cool and good for retrofitted older frames.

I did consider that when I was taking it apart. I guess it was a silly thing to be lazy about: no adjustment is necessary to reinstall.

Yeah, I have the DaVincis too. Do you completely remove the forward half of the cable splitter when packing the bike?

If not, the issue is the fact that you're limited to where you can put the handlebars (both when packed and while packing) by the length of the front half of the cable. With slotted cable stops you could just completely disengage the bars from the front triangle.

I suppose a workaround would have been to install the splitters farther down the cable, closer to the bottom bracket, to allow slightly more slack/play.

No, Bob I do not need to remove the splitters. Mine are about two thirds the way down the front tube just in front of the coupler. Never an issue, and I have a 60 cm frame, so everything must be perfect.

Same on my wife's S&S and it's a 60 as well. It does pack readily enough, but the dangling handlebar assembly is annoying if not downright inconvenient to deal with. The simple split stops on my new S&S, or old-school bolt-on downtube stops eliminate this allowing complete removal of the handlebar assy. Splitters are mandatory in my mind, never known anyone who used an S&S or Ritchey without them.

I've got a bike like this as well. An oversight for sure, but workable, with care, when using in-line cable disconnecters.
