Brett will be missed. If you purchased a bicycle part in Ohio in the last five years , Brett was part of that. He was a great man.

There are more details here:

Terrible! My heart goes out to his family. I can't even imagine.

That is horrible and utterly senseless.

Wasn't there a recent thread about travel to Puerto Rico? I posted there about the encounter my friends had a couple years ago, which was eerily familiar to this one.

I wouldn't even consider traveling there at this point, yeah I know it happens everywhere, but I don't have a good feeling about it at this point.

Posted across the hall:

I had met Brett once when working in western PA. My condolences to his family and friends.

SamIAm: There is nothing all inclusive about most of Puerto Rico, compared to the resorts in the DR, MX, or Jamaica. There are no walls to separate tourists from locals. Most of the violent crime in PR relates to drugs and is centered in the few urban areas.

Rincón is my second home, headed there in 10 days, and I have always found it a beautiful mix of gringos and locals with shared interests (surfing) and harmony. Life is good off of the 413 but not immune to this...
