Does anyone know what type of lube KMC use on their chains? That factory lube seems to be very good. I have tried several different types from my LHS, but none seemed to match the lubricating qualities and durability of the KMC chain lube.

I live in the PNW and I like ProLink. Wipe down after you ride and everything stays clean. I go several hundred miles between applications. Personally I think wiping down the chain after a ride and cleaning the cassette with a "floss" (I use cardboard) is the most important thing to keeping your drivetrain running smoothly.

I use Dupont "Chain Saver" which is a wax based lube with teflon. The drive train stays clean and quiet. It needs to be reapplied more often than the thicker lubes but it's a tradeoff.

Nothing will work quite as good as the factory lube because its grease that's applied to the chain parts during assembly.

KMC sells it's own chain lube. I see them here in Taiwan but am unsure if it is available elsewhere.

'Most' 'factory' lube is more of a rust inhibitor than 'lube', since it gets here via a ship mostly.

Use it until dirty, then clean(mineral spirits or such, in a plastic milk jug, less milk, shake, shake, shake)...let dry, install, lube that night, not just before you ride.

I like Prolink and WD-40 LUBE....

smoothest running chain I've ever ridden was a new KMC that I simply wiped down with a rag and then lubed with Chain-L.

provided almost 1,000 miles of absolutely silent operation.
